THE IDEA OF BRINGING MALAWIAN AND TANZANIA ART TOGETHER

Posted by Nkhwachi Peter Mhango on November 20, 2011 at 1:55 AM Comments comments (0)

HEY guys i thought it was going to be a good idae to bring malawian art to tanzania so we can see wat we can learn from achother, i drafted these ideas. if anyone out there likes this please lets work together.

BACKGROUND

Malawi and Tanzania share a border and the northern part of Malawi, and there are a lot of similarities in the food, language, style, fashion, culture religion, and weather. Tanzania has one of the most blended afro-pop music called Bongo Flavor, and Malawi has one of the most unique music tunes in Africa. This proposal looks to fuse the two unique musical talents in a cultural exchange that will highlight the plight and pleasure of home grown music, with independent performances and collaborations.

This proposal not only seeks to use the music realms but also the theater industry. Tanzania has a vibrant theater industry that is grooming most artists in both the films industry and the comedy industry. Malawi is a country that has a culture of drama in secondary schools called ATEM, Malawi is proud of theatre for both change and development. Nanzikambe Arts Company is the leading theatre and Development Company, attending a lot of global festivals and training directors and actors in theater.

This proposal seeks to bring the two afro-talents to a point where they connect. Taking into consideration of the general objective of this entire idea (bringing the open talents to an open space for open issues and grafting the changing societies into art), this proposal proposes that there should be performances from Malawi coming down to Tanzania for (a) music, (b) drama and (c) traditional dances, to perform alongside chosen Tanzanian artists, cultural troops and a theatre company in all known theatre and cultural centers across the country and not less than five universities. All this to end with a cultural dance that will have both cultural choreography, more of a contemporary dance, a theatre piece to be quickly rehearsed and performed in Mwanza and the last performance.

The entire idea is to have these performances in December or November end and early December. The targeted audiences as said is all Tanzanians of all ages. We will use this tour to bring artist from Malawi and those from Tanzania to a round table and talk possible future collaborations and train them on how they can help in changing the world health wise and of course behavior change and it proved that most energetic Malawians and Tanzanians are lost due to the violent HIV.

As you will see the calendar this proposal seeks funding for this tour so that all the objectives are met. We have contacted Nanzikambe arts in Malawi and two of the top artist in Malawi for a possible show down in Tanzania. So far the negations are well better and down the line. Nanzikambe arts have a play ready for rehearsal in as soon as the program is confirmed; I have also contacted Code Sangala the second Malawians representative in the second big brother house and come out second about using his cultural troop to perform Malawian traditional dances down here in Tanzania. I believe that at the end of this all we have another tour this time going to Malawi, most theatre companies usually have cultural exchange programs.

The first on the list to implement our project will be to have a radio program to be launched on kiss on FM (kiss FM was chosen because it is more artistic and it is the first English broadcasting radio in Tanzania). This program called the xxxxxxx will be presented with a renowned Presenter Ezden the Rocker from Kiss FM alongside an award winning DJ Simba. This show will be recorded independently and aired on kiss FM at least one of twice a week depending on the planning of the show will go as now the show is being worked out by Ezden and Nkhwachi, this show will strictly cultural music in Tanzania and those in Malawi, and will talk about theatre in Malawi and Tanzania and highlighting the upcoming tour. It will also include exclusive interviews with cultural, bongo flavor, theater artists in both Tanzania and Malawi. This show will air for four months form the first week on September to end of December.

This show will also provide the synopsis of the productions to be showcased and the entire tour program and exclusive interviews to the artists that will be involved and a step by step coverage of the rehearsal, creative process and blending of the traditional dances. I Nkhwachi peter Mhango will also be part of this show and we will get professional advice from our counterpart Muriel Russell.

This is not to be as expensive as most of us may want to think because these various artists say those from Malawi will have to rehearse there pieces form from there, so they will come down here strictly to perform and the only rehearsal they will have here is for the collaborative piece. I have broken down all the costs and the tour cost in the budget attached to this proposal.

THE AIM OF THE CULTURAL EXCHANGE

From the background that the two countries share a lot in common artistically these two countries share very little as compared to how Malawian and Zambians, Zimbabweans or south Africans appreciate each other’s music, and the reason why either Malawian or Tanzanians are not familiar with each other’s music not language at all, since Zimbabweans use shone, and Zambians use Bemba and south Africans use Zulu or even worse other local languages but since there was a chance to blend the cultures and the rhythm in their music, the drama in their life and shared problems and used arts (theatre) to communicate their views and develop and brainstorm using theatre for development (TFD) theatre for change. This proposal is to connect the two strong spirits together and come up with a rhythm for all. The collaborative peace will be more of forum theatre that will try to highlight problems met by artist. FORUM THEATRE is an interactive theatre form pioneered in the early 1970s by Brazilian theatre practitioner and activist Augusto Boal. An audience is shown a play in which a central character (protagonist) encounters an oppression or obstacle which s/he is unable to overcome; the subject-matter will usually be something of immediate importance to the audience, often based on a shared life experience.

The audience become 'spect-actors' and can stop the action, take the protagonist's place, and try out their own ideas about how to overcome the obstacle or dilemma. The other characters in the piece will react as they feel their characters would react. Forum Theatre allows audience members to intellectually and emotionally take in the experience of the characters in the story and their circumstance. From feeling emotions whilst passively watching the story unfold, the audience is asked to launch into action, to take part in the crisis, and try to resolve it.

I have done research in the period between January 2010 and May 2011, and the research covered the entire country specially Mwanza, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and several other parts where I discovered that people love theatre. I know since I have acted for Nanzikambe myself and footsteps arts that art is not about language it’s about the connection the feeling, the moments, the love for and the relativism, the truth, the openness, the people that act and the people that live it, at the end of the day we all are artists. I can’t imagine a more massai dance with a more ingoma dance by the ngoni’s of Mzimba in Malawi, or the fusion of dance and the jump.

Among other common things this project looks to change the mindset and behaviors of many youths in Tanzania, as this project also will have a strong message on HIV aids especially M and CP. We are trying as much we can to cooperate with Soul cities one love project. Since the artist from Malawi and Tanzania involved in this project will have to compose one song in both languages, and we will involve dancers from THT and professional choreographers from both Malawi and Tanzania. This will be explained in the actual plan.

A very renowned director David Guza from Zimbabwe once organized such a tour in Malawi and the results were superior, despite his little funding.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

There are many young artist both men and women in both Malawi and Tanzania who are currently facing a wide range of barriers to empowerment and positive personal and social development, and luck the professional exposure. This lack of exposure and These problems are compounded by the low upbeat of professional stage performances and lack of knowledge and experience exchange in both Malawian and Tanzanian societies and the marginalization of their opinions and ideas and talents due to poor funding or oppression, This leads to a lack of confidence, poor talent show up, poor development in the art industry and poor enjoyment by the societies. They remain apathetic and inactive in art and developmental matters. After all we have all have been what we are because we had the chance to see admire and given a chance to augment.

“if our artist could get the international exposure, the chance to prepare and perform, more different audiences they will be very good, they will learn from their counter-parts, they will get matured, unlike our case where an upcoming artist in both theatre and music stays in the game for less than a year and then everybody has forgotten about them, all this is because artist fail to develop, to grow the talent, to reach out” Gibson Chisale 2010, director and founder of Oneness Arts.

“You see as artist we need the challenges and we need the most needed performance but it’s always great to go ahead, we all need to sit down for once and become audiences too and learn to learn from others, you never know we all have unique things as artist, I love being watched, but it’s a special moment watching too, art is a journey, we walk and see and copy and teach..Hahaha!!!” Brave Mnyaye, the Band leader in Nyasa Guruz (NYG) Band.

OUR APPROACH

South central works to achieve the best results by engaging the decision makers and the society in general, various workshops have been conducted in both Malawi and Tanzania by different organization on the uplifting of cultural events and of course lifting the talents in our artists, but little has been practically done so far, in the someway little been relatively successful in raising awareness but the barriers to togetherness and genuine African connection in the art of performance culture pose deeper rooted challenges than many of these interventions are able to address. We feel it is proper that work be grounded in local culture and real experiences of people to ensure to come up with a choreographed piece that is cautiously relevant and meaningful to participants and viewers.

Our method enables a far deeper reaching examination to best to synchronize the two related cultures and applying a more Psycho-analysis through drama and intricate analysis of what relates and what can be merged.

so far this was what i had in mind am sure we can build it from here what do you think

My Story with Carthy

Posted by Nkhwachi Peter Mhango on October 14, 2011 at 9:05 AM Comments comments (1)

hey folks people dont really feel ok talking about their lives, but i guess we are different, coz am going to talk about something that i have wanted but failed for a good deal of time.

so i came to tanzania about two years ago and it was ll out of fun and stuff vener really came here to make big money and stuff, with me was Aaron my good friend, well beer was tajken and went all over the country to have fun. 9 months down the line our two secretaries are busy advertising my computer skilss and all over sudden i get a call from this woman (Carthy's mum) so i go fix the pc and again she called, then while working stuff out here somes this very beutiful angel to greet me (the malawian). so am taken by suprise and am sure i love her no matter what.

december 2010, Aaaron a good friend of mine leaves for malawi, and i cant say i saty to be with carthy but thast what happened plus some promotin at work, so still down here and rolling with carthy. shit happened carhy was and still is very ok with me despite the fact that i have a tatoo, and i drink, (a thing her mother does) so she goes ahead and tells her mum that she got me and that i might come for a formal introduction. well had she known the fire she just started she was not going to take that path.

the mother actually said that she cant get her doughter married to a guy with a tatoo, and that the guys that drinks and a foreigner, well i had to take this with a very big bottle of beer other wise i was goi8ng to vommit her slutters, so like a ghetto boy i cant saty on the sun for too long, i went and met my aunt and told all about it, and then she had to o it the african way like sit and get her to understand that a tatoo does not mean am satanic or a bank robber

question: how did she know that i have a tatoo, well i could have the answer to this question and most guys wold think she amd me probably got cozy, well thast not true, apparently she sent some guys to work it out on me and try to find the weakest links, so with this project she found out the only thing that i have is a car, and small bad looking chairs and a big head full of knowledge.

one good night after all this happened carthy give me a call that changes the way i looked at the whole situation "hello, can you hear, i need to tell something am pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!! was the queston that asked but at the end of my suprised question there as a big smile, ok the first official communication to your mum about our intentions to be together is denied and with slutters, how is your mum going to take this one. three days later she goes to the hospital for ultrasound scan, the resu7lts are more captivating SHE IS CARRYING MY TWINS........... i went took alot of beer to sink this big chunk of news down my throat, incase i vomit.

a week later Carthy looked more and more happier than i have known her, and she did what she could to let the mother know about the situatuon, this part is a little senstive so i have to put in Chichewa, (my site rules apply here reneber) one good quite evening carthyes mum went to her room and had a mother to doughter chat, and she said "uchotse mimba yimeneyo" she had to denie that and that angered the mum

three days later am taking my chapat and soup in the morning i get a cal and its from her mum, telling that am the one who is spoiling here doughter she will do anything possible to get me out of this country with the help of her friends with the immigration, i have a work permit which exopires ibn december but this woman looks and sounds pretty serious....

question; does this happen in malawi, well i would say it happens in malawian DVD players when they spin nigerian DVD's. but this warning has been repeated to me twice and am scared but suprised perplexed, and really stunned.

carthy wants to move to her own place since she saying she loves me and that she cant do such a sin, as the mother is suggesting, she wants to move in with me and that scares, i really dint want all this to come to this really. and most importantly i dont want trouble, not with me and no trouble for the twins.

incase something happens to me, my site was there. and if you were wondering why i was reachable and stuff you got the answer. i have my friend he is called Christopher Buke (Bright Mhango you should get in touch with thsis guy) a retired journalist he had a similer expirience

Tanzania And It's People

Tanzania ans its People

Basicaly am a bad witter but some people find my writting interesting and if you are looking for spelling and probably garammer in my blogs then you are reading the wrong blog, forgive me with all that, one more warning is that i am not a computer wizz! am jst one of those ghetto boys doing stuff the ghetto way..

I have been heer in tanzania for some time now and have expirienced  many things but i will not be able to cover all of them in this blog, what i will do in this blog is to tell guys of what happened in the last wek which i find interesting  and funny some how.. well i came in january last year with my friend Aaron Ngalonde Nhlane, who is already back home (malawi) for some artistic reasons but her is the actual couse... Aaron left without a proper word and am still her working so the lady (my Employer) just thinks that i will disappear and get lost just like that, ofcourse not just autimatically she is thinking that but someone miht planted that seed of thought in  her mind, but the worrying part os that ist making me feel out of place its like Aaron's depature is bad omen to me...ofcourse this is questionable as it is not connecting me to Aaron. well lets continue so after all that talk  that left me very confused i called a friend Murriel (chat-email/skype) then jumped into a taxi and then into a bus and then there are two guys at the back seat that have a look at me that almost says "see you when you drop off" so am very uncomfortable in this bus only to realise that the guys who ha the scarely look dropped off the bus way back before i did.

now thsi is my concern, how do i get around this to make this employer of mine to have that trust otherwise, she doesent trust that i am around at all, well ofcourse i think the best way is to stick around but i need a more creative way  because i just applied for  a car loan and then its future is in shumbles as you can see "are you planning to go?"

Windows 7 Seven: How To Fix

WINDOWS 7 ultimate

Ok so apparently there is a lot of serious hacking going on out there. China and a couple other countries have hacked windows 7. They started distributing copies of windows 7 seven with fake PRODUCTION KEYS. Many people are/will be victims to this, you might be a victim. There are many fixes for this, i will start with the simple fixes to the problem then more complicated solutions.

WINDOWS GENUINE ADVANTAGE (WGA)

How to disable it

-Ok. FIRST UP, IF YOU DOWNLOADED WINDOWS 7 FROM AN .ISO THEN RE-DO IT WITH THESE STEPS.

The Problem

Windows 7 checks whether or not the current version you are running is a pre-release copy, and prevents you from upgrading further. For reference purposes, this is the error you'll see when you try and upgrade.

The Solution

The solution is to edit a file inside the Windows 7 DVD-which you'll have to extract to the hard drive to proceed.

If you are using an ISO image for the installation progress, you can use the awesome 7-Zip utility to extract the ISO to a folder on the drive.

If you are using an actual DVD, you can simply copy all of the files from the DVD to a folder on your hard drive.

Once you've extract the files, browse down into the "sources" folder to find the cversion.ini file.

Once you've opened up the cversion.ini file, you'll notice that the MinClient line has a value of 7233.0, and since the Windows 7 RC release is build 7100, you can understand why it's not working.

All you need to do is change the MinClient value to something less than the current build you are using. For the RC release, you can change it to 7000.

Now you can simply launch the setup.exe file from within the folder, and do the upgrade directly from the hard drive. Once you've started the setup, click Install now.

Once you get to the type of installation screen, choose to Upgrade the existing install.

Once you reach the Compatibility Report screen (if it doesn't show up at all, be happy about it), you'll see the list of applications that probably won't work once you upgrade. Realistically most of these apps will work just fine, but the important thing is that you'll be able to upgrade.

(removing any apps that have compatibility problems, before you do the upgrade.)

At this point, the upgrade should start working, and will take a rather long time.

Use this method if you've already installed windows 7 but didn't use an .iso

FOLLOW THESE three simple STEPS now you can get rid of the pesky and sometimes buggy Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) notifications

STEP 1. Reboot Windows in safe mode (hold the f8 key while booting and you will get the option to boot in safe mode) and then:

STEP 2. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and search for wgalogon folder and delete it. You should backup up the registry beforehand, in case something goes wrong.

STEP 3. In your windows directory search for files wga* and delete them.

You are done!

Now reboot back normally and continue your work. Windows Genuine Advantage will not bother you anymore.

Note: I had previously posted a tip which requires a third-party executable. Now it is not required anymore. You can do it yourself by carefully following the guide above.

Warning: Use at your own risk. Backup everything before you do.

To my Friend Mphundu Mjumira (malawi) involved in a tragic accident three weeks ago, survived.

Posted by Nkhwachi Peter Mhango on May 1, 2010 at 7:40 AM Comments comments (2)

Well Mphundu it’s hard to say sorry when you are away but I think it’s the best I can do. And I want to say one thing, since o knew you and the entire Nanzikambe family I have believed that we are one in art, but I feel very connected to you as a brother, with all the experience advice that I got from you, both as an actor, a friends and a brother.

I learnt on the day of the accident that you were injured, but I don’t know why I was sure that were injured but you will be fine, I learnt with tears of joy about how you called fro brandy and joking with the nurse in the ambulance and told my friends that Mphundu will be ok.

All in all, sure sure man, choka iwe, nde mukuti bwanji, sitivaya ndekuti, tiyeni takaponde and all sorts of words are still in my head and I know that we will dance in December because I have the feeling that you are already poushing it back and forth. Not much to say my men Mphundu, but get well soon….. do you mind a joke?....

A man was getting a haircut prior to a trip to Rome. He mentioned the trip to the barber who responded, "Rome? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded, dirty and full of Italians. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?"

"We're taking TWA," was the reply. "We got a great rate!"

"TWA?" exclaimed the barber. "That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are rude, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome?"

"We'll be at the downtown International Marriott."

"That dump! That's the worst hotel in the city. The rooms are small, the service is surly and they're overpriced. So, whatcha doing when you get there?"

"We're going to go to see the Vatican and we hope to see the Pope."

"That's rich," laughed the barber. "You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."

A month later, the man again came in for his regular haircut. The barber asked him about his trip to Rome.

"It was wonderful," explained the man, "not only were we on time in one of TWA's brand new planes, but it was overbooked and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a beautiful 28 year old stewardess who waited on me hand and foot. And the hotel - it was great! They'd just finished a $25 million remodeling job and now it's the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us the presidential suite at no extra charge!"

"Well," muttered the barber, "I know you didn't get to see the Pope."

"Actually, we were quite lucky, for as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder and explained that the Pope likes to personally meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke to me."

"Really?" asked the Barber. "What'd he say?"

"He said, 'Where'd you get the lousy haircut?'"

Did that put the usual smile on your face? Here is a picture of me and aaron saying get well soon on stage.

his is to Mphundu at Bagmoyo school of arts, we went to shoot that photo for you.

I never saw this photo did you, I cant believe you really all tongue to go into mwai’s mouth, hahahaha fidodo eti.

Man you are the man, the real man….that comedian that the third world has never had…. naturaly
